External Screens

Stage Traxx supports external displays for showing full-screen lyrics or PDF documents to your band members or audience. You can connect screens via HDMI, AirPlay, or use multiple windows on macOS and iPadOS.

Connecting an External Display

iOS and iPadOS

When you connect an external screen via AirPlay or HDMI, your device mirrors the iPad screen by default. To show dedicated full-screen content instead, enable Use External Display in Settings > General > External Display.

Note

iOS always uses the last connected audio interface for audio output. Most HDMI screens register as an audio interface with iOS. To avoid audio routing issues, connect HDMI screens first and your audio interface last.

macOS and iPadOS with Stage Manager

On macOS, or on iPadOS with Windowed Apps or Stage Manager mode active, you can open multiple external display windows. Go to File > New External Display or press Cmd+N, then position these windows in full-screen mode on any connected screens.

Configuring External Displays

Use Settings > General > External Display to customize how content appears on external screens:

  • Hide chords from the display
  • Show PDF documents when available
  • Adjust font size
  • Set display rotation

Network Clients

You can also use a network client to feed content to external screens, which provides additional flexibility for complex stage setups. See Network Sessions for more details on setting up a network configuration.
