Mixer

The bottom panel can display a full-featured mixer with support for up to 32 track channels plus a dedicated click channel. The mixer provides direct access to song pitch, speed, and BPM, along with per-track controls and 16 output buses.

The mixer has two views: Song view for track and click channels, and Outputs view for output buses. Tap on SONG or OUTPUTS at the left to switch between them.

Signal Flow

Audio in Stage Traxx flows through three stages:

  1. Tracks — Each song can have up to 32 audio tracks. Every track has its own volume, pan, EQ, and mute controls.

  2. Output Buses — Tracks are assigned to one of 16 output buses. Buses let you group tracks together for shared processing and routing. Each bus has its own volume, EQ, and on iOS, up to 4 AUv3 effect plugins.

  3. Hardware Outputs — Each bus routes to a hardware output on your audio interface. You can send multiple buses to the same output, or spread them across different outputs for separate mixes.

This architecture gives you flexibility for different live scenarios:

  • Simple stereo setup: Route all tracks to a single bus, send that bus to your main outputs
  • Separate click track: Put the click on its own bus routed to a dedicated output for the drummer's in-ear monitor
  • Stem mixing: Group instruments by type (drums, bass, keys, vocals) on separate buses for the sound engineer

You assign tracks to buses in the Song view and route buses to hardware outputs in the Outputs view. Bus configuration is also available in Audio Settings.

Master Controls

The right side of the mixer displays master controls that are visible in both views:

  • Song Master: A DCA fader that controls all track volumes together. Adjusting this fader scales all track levels proportionally without changing their individual settings
  • Outputs Master: A DCA fader that controls all output bus volumes together
  • Mute Groups (1–6): Buttons that toggle the mute state of each group. When a mute group is enabled, all tracks assigned to that group are muted

Song View

Mixer Song View

The Song view displays all track channels for the current song. Changes you make here are immediately saved to the song.

Note

Mute changes made during playback are not saved if Save Track Mute Changes is disabled in Playback Settings.

On the left side, you'll find controls to adjust pitch, speed, and BPM.

Tip

Double-tap any fader or knob to reset it to its default value.

Track Channel Controls

Each track channel has the following controls from top to bottom:

  • Output Bus: Shows the name and color of the assigned output bus
  • Equalizer: Opens a 4-band EQ popup with a bypass option
  • Solo: Isolates this track
  • Pan: Adjusts stereo position
  • Volume Fader: Controls track level and displays a level meter showing the post-fader signal. A transpose indicator icon appears at the bottom right — gray when the track ignores pitch changes, dim when the track will transpose, and bright when the track is currently transposed
  • Mute Groups (1–6): Long press to select which groups this track belongs to
  • Mute: Silences the track

Note

Mute groups are additive. As long as any mute group a track belongs to is enabled, the track stays muted and cannot be manually unmuted.

Click Channel

The click channel appears when the metronome is enabled for the current song. It only provides output bus selection, volume, and mute controls.

Outputs View

Mixer Outputs View

The Outputs view displays the 16 available output buses. Changes made here are global and affect all songs in your library.

Use the arrow button to collapse or expand the view. When collapsed, only output buses used in the current song are shown.

Output Bus Controls

Each output bus has the following controls from top to bottom:

  • Hardware Output: Select where this bus sends its signal. Choose mono or stereo outputs — mono signals are automatically summed. Output routing is remembered per audio interface, so disconnecting an interface restores internal speaker routing, and reconnecting restores the interface-specific routing
  • Plugins (iOS only): Opens the AUv3 plugin manager for this bus
  • Equalizer: Opens a 4-band EQ popup with a bypass option
  • Volume Fader: Controls bus level and displays a level meter showing the post-fader signal
  • Mute: Silences the bus

Managing AUv3 Plugins

Mixer Plugin Setup

Stage Traxx supports AUv3 audio plugins on iOS, allowing you to add effects processing to each output bus.

Note

AUv3 plugins are only available on iOS due to sandboxing restrictions on Mac.

You can insert up to 4 plugins per output bus. The signal flows from top to bottom, so the order of plugins matters.

For each plugin slot:

  • Bypass: Temporarily disable the plugin without removing it
  • UI: Open the plugin's user interface
  • Remove: Swipe left or use the context menu to remove the plugin

To reorder plugins, drag them to change the signal flow.

Muting Tracks Across Songs

A common requirement is muting the same track position across all songs — for example, when a band member is absent or when switching between duo and solo performances. Stage Traxx offers two approaches.

Using Mute Groups

Mute groups let you globally mute tracks with a single button press. Assign any track to a mute group, regardless of its position — track 1 in one song and track 5 in another can share the same group.

To set up a mute group:

  1. Open the mixer and find the track you want to control globally
  2. Long press one of the mute group buttons (1–6) at the bottom of the channel strip
  3. Select which group this track should belong to
  4. Repeat for the similar track in all relevant songs

Now toggling that mute group in the master controls section mutes the track in every song where it's assigned.

Tip

You can also assign mute groups via Song Details > Audio > tap a track > Mute Groups.

Using Output Bus Routing

Alternatively, route tracks you may need to mute to a dedicated output bus. For example, route all guest vocal tracks to Bus 2 while your own vocals go to Bus 1. When performing solo, simply mute Bus 2 in the Outputs view.

This uses an extra output bus but keeps mute groups free for other purposes.
