Playback

Playback management is at the core of Stage Traxx. The app gives you full control over every aspect of playback while keeping things simple enough for live performance. Every playback action can be triggered on-screen or via remote control.

Playback Controls

The playbar at the bottom of the screen provides the main playback controls. Tap the play button to start playback, and tap it again to stop. You can configure what happens when you stop mid-song — pause at the current position, rewind to the beginning, or load the next song. See Stop Behavior.

When a song ends, Stage Traxx can either pause or automatically load the next song. See Song End Behavior.

Seeking

Drag anywhere on the title area to seek within a song. You can also seek using the waveform in the top panel when enabled.

Tip

To prevent accidental seeking during a live performance, you can disable Allow Seek during Playback.

Start Delay

You can add a delay before playback begins. When enabled, pressing play turns the button yellow and waits for the configured time before starting. Press again to cancel. See Start Delay.

Queue Management

The queue determines which songs are lined up for playback. Stage Traxx offers two approaches:

  • Automatic Queue Handling (default): Tapping a song loads it and the following songs into the queue automatically. This is ideal for working with playlists where the order is predetermined.

  • Manual Queue Handling: You control exactly what goes into the queue. This is ideal when you read the audience and decide what to play next without a fixed setlist.

See Queue for details on managing the queue.

Autoplay and Loop

Autoplay continues playback automatically when a song ends, moving to the next song in the queue without gaps. Autoplay can be enabled for the entire queue or for individual songs.

Loop repeats the current song continuously. Loop can only be toggled for individual songs in a playlist or queue. Loop takes priority — a repeating song will not advance automatically even if autoplay is enabled.

Audio Regions

Audio regions let you define sections within a song and control how playback behaves in each region:

Audio Regions Top Panel

  • Continue: Plays the region normally and continues to the next region
  • Repeat Once: Repeats the region once (playing it twice) before continuing
  • Repeat: Repeats the region indefinitely until you manually advance
  • Created with Sketch. Skip: Jumps over the region entirely
  • Created with Sketch. Pause: Stops playback at the end of the region

This allows you to rearrange songs on the fly during a performance — extend an intro, skip a verse, or loop a chorus while the crowd sings along.

See Audio Regions for details on managing regions.

Fades and Crossfades

Stage Traxx can apply smooth fades when starting or stopping playback mid-song to avoid abrupt audio cuts. You can also crossfade between songs for seamless transitions.

To trigger a crossfade manually, add a crossfade button via Assignable Controls or map the crossfade action to a remote controller. Crossfades can also be applied automatically during autoplay. See Fade Settings to configure fade durations.

Note

The play button turns orange during a fade. Tapping it will stop playback immediately.

Mixer Controls

The mixer provides real-time control over:

  • Pitch: Transpose the song up or down
  • Speed: Adjust playback tempo
  • Track Volumes: Control individual track levels
  • Mute and Solo: Silence or isolate individual tracks
  • Pan: Adjust stereo position of each track
  • Routing: Assign tracks to output buses
  • 4-Band Parametric EQ: Shape the sound of each track and output bus
  • Master Volume: Adjust overall output

Master Tuning

If you're playing with instruments tuned differently from standard concert pitch, use Master Tuning to adjust the global pitch for all songs.

Safety Features

To prevent accidental actions during live performances, you can require a double-tap for critical controls:

These settings apply to both on-screen buttons and remote control commands.

Customizing the Interface

Use Assignable Controls to add custom buttons and knobs to the playbar for quick access to frequently used actions like crossfade, volume control, or audio region commands.
