Automatic Scrolling
Stage Traxx can automatically scroll lyrics during playback, keeping the current section visible without manual intervention. Enable this feature in Autoscroll settings. There are two scrolling modes: constant speed and time-coded.
Constant Speed Scrolling
The default mode scrolls lyrics at a constant rate synchronized with the song's progress. You can adjust the scroll speed during playback using the speed controls on the right side of the content area in the main player screen:

The speed value determines how quickly the lyrics scroll relative to the song duration. A speed of 1.00 means the last lyrics line appears when the song ends. A speed of 2.00 scrolls twice as fast, showing the last line halfway through the song. Values below 1.00 rarely make sense, as the final lines would never be displayed before the song finishes.
To calibrate the scroll speed for a song:
- Select the song in the player
- Move the position slider to approximately 75% of the song
- Start playback
- Adjust the speed until the lyrics align with the current playback position
Note
Scroll speed settings are saved per song and depend on font size. If you change the lyrics font size, you may need to recalibrate.
Tip
For songs with long instrumental sections, insert blank lines into your lyrics where the instrumental parts occur. This prevents the lyrics from scrolling too far ahead during breaks.
Time-Coded Lyrics
For precise synchronization, you can embed timestamps directly into your lyrics. Stage Traxx automatically switches to time-coded mode when it detects timestamps in the lyrics. During playback, the currently active segment can be highlighted to help you follow along. Enable this in Autoscroll settings where you can also choose the highlight style and screen position.
Timestamps use the format [MM:SS] or [MM:SS.xx] (compatible with standard LRC lyrics files). Minutes and seconds must always be two digits (e.g., 01:05 not 1:5). The fractional seconds are optional and can be one or two digits, where .5 equals 500ms.
[00:15]First line of the verse
[00:19.50]Second line of the verse
[00:23.00]Third line of the verse
Tip
Time-coded lyrics are recommended when using an external display, as they ensure accurate synchronization between the lyrics and the music.
Creating Time-Coded Lyrics
The lyrics editor includes a built-in player to help you create time-coded lyrics. Position your cursor where you want the timestamp, then tap the timestamp button to insert the current playback time. After inserting a timestamp, the cursor automatically moves to the beginning of the next non-empty line.
This enables a fast workflow for timestamping an entire song: start playback and tap the timestamp button at the correct moment for each lyrics line. The cursor advances automatically, so you can timestamp the whole song in a single pass.
Tip
You don't need to time-code every line. A single timestamp highlights all text until the next timestamp. You can also place multiple timestamps within a single line to highlight individual words or phrases separately.
Adjusting Timing Offset
If you import lyrics with timestamps that are slightly off, you can apply a global offset to all timestamps. Add an offset tag at the beginning of your lyrics:
[offset:+500]
This shifts all timestamps by the specified number of milliseconds. Use positive values to delay and negative values to advance the timing.
Note
This offset also applies to timed MIDI commands embedded in your lyrics.
